when planning becomes sin . . .

"for I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord,
plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
[jeremiah 29:11]
how often have i quoted this scripture?
how often have i encouraged others with its message?
but, o how often i have watered down this Word in my own life.
who am i allowing to plan my life anyway?
me . . . with all of my datebooks and daytimers?
or . . . Jesus?"
"now listen, you who say, “today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.”  why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. what is your life? you are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.  instead, you ought to say, “if it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”  as it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. all such boasting is evil.  if anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them."
[james 4:13-17]
it's time for this die-hard scheduler to die!
"many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails."
[proverbs 19:21]
"commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans."
[proverbs 16:3]
so be it, Lord Jesus.
may Your plans and purposes for my life prevail.
i give all of my yesterdays, todays and tomorrows to You.
